The Gamma Rho Chapter set a new chapter record on Saturday, June 13, when 37 donors turned out for the chapter’s Annual Blood Drive, the highest turnout in the chapter’s history. The engagement and participation on-site were top notch from start to finish, a direct result of the planning and leadership of Bro. Juwon Chambers and the Blood Drive Committee. Congratulations to Bro. Chambers and the entire committee for an outstanding event, and a sincere thank-you to every brother who came out to give their time, and their blood, for this worthy cause. Their generosity turned an already meaningful annual tradition into a record-setting day of service.

The impact of this drive reaches well beyond the numbers. Donations collected on June 13 are going to help support a young man who will be the first person in Louisiana to undergo a procedure placing stem cells into his bone marrow to treat his sickle cell anemia. Stem cell and bone marrow transplants remain one of the only established curative treatments for sickle cell disease, replacing a patient’s blood-forming cells with healthy ones, and they depend on a steady, reliable blood supply to support patients through the process. For this young man, that means this procedure carries the potential to be an actual, lifelong cure.

It is a powerful reminder of what a single afternoon of service can mean for someone else’s lifetime. Thank you to Bro. Chambers, the Blood Drive Committee.

Your Blood. Their Second Chance.
